The Conversations Your Kid Isn’t Getting at School
Published 3 days ago • 3 min read
Happy New Moon,
My inbox has been full this week with so many amazing moms asking for workshops before everyone heads off on summer adventures. I hear you. This time of year is a big transition for our daughters (and for us), and it’s worth supporting them with the tools they need before everything shifts.
I’m offering the four topics moms are requesting the most and a bundle deal (save $50) when you register for both kids workshops.
Feel free to email me at hereif you have any questions. Go Girl Power! Konika
Each student goes home with an autographed copy of "One in a Million" and a carefully curated first period kit
Imagine a world where every child with a uterus feels strong, confident, and proud of their body’s inner superpowers.
In this special workshop, I’ll read my kids book, One in a Million – A First Book About Periods and guide families through a fun, age-appropriate introduction to ovulation, menstruation, and the incredible ways we care for our bodies.
With colorful visuals, interactive demos, and a hands-on science experiment, we’ll normalize and celebrate this important milestone—together. We’ll also leave plenty of time to answer questions anonymously submitted into our "curiosity box."
Each child will go home with: • An autographed copy of the book • A thoughtfully curated first period kit
Saturday, May 9 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Drop-off workshop for kids
Friendships change—especially during puberty. But most kids are never actually taught how to navigate those changes.
In this empowering workshop, students will learn how to: • Recognize healthy vs. unhealthy friendships • Set clear, confident boundaries • Stay grounded in their self-worth
We’ll use discussion, reflection, and anonymous “curiosity box” questions to explore real-life scenarios.
✨ Includes our interactive Mood Science Lab, where a color-changing experiment helps kids understand how emotions (and friendships) can shift—and how to respond with awareness.
⭐ 5 Star Yelp Review:
"My daughter participated in Girl Power Science's "Be your own BFF" workshop and had such a wonderful time. It was a really great combination of talking to the girls about how to deal with difficult friendships while also doing fun projects. I especially love that she incorporated a peer-to-peer advice session to give the girls a chance to talk to each other about what they're going through. We have had a lot of conversations at home referring back to this session since. Reading the summary email that Konika sent out afterwards literally brought tears to my eyes - I know friend drama is a normal part of girlhood but I'm so grateful to have an extra resource to help us navigate." - Abby M.
Giving your child their first device is a big milestone—and one that deserves preparation.
This workshop helps kids build a strong foundation before stepping into the digital world. Through interactive activities and guided discussion, they’ll learn how to: • Navigate technology with awareness • Respond to uncomfortable situations • Build healthy screen habits • Make thoughtful decisions online
We’ll also create mindful glitter jars—a tangible tool to help kids tune into their bodies and regulate screen use.
If something here has been on your mind for a while, this is your nudge. These workshops are intentionally small, and this is the last round before summer.
With gratitude, Konika
As always, thank you for supporting our small business.

Happy Pink Full Moon, Our popular Girl & Grown-Up "Period Power" workshop is back on April 25th as well as our virtual "Pause Power" workshop on April 22nd. There’s something I keep noticing lately, in my students, in my daughter, and honestly… in myself too. Sleep deprivation. Our body literacy classes always begin with a check-in and a chance for students to draw a picture of their "inner weather report" in their journal. One of my students said they noticed a pattern. "I am always tired!"...
Happy Spring Equinox! My daughter turned 15 yesterday. And surprisingly…the hardest part wasn’t the cake, the guest list, or even the emotions. It was her wishlist. Think: itsy bitsy teeny weeny crop tops and micro skirts. The kind of clothes that make you pause as a parent—not because they’re “wrong,” but because they raise bigger questions. Just last week, after my talk at Burkes School (“Girl Power: Building Body Resilience”), a mom asked me: “How do you balance letting girls wear what they...
Happy Full Moon! This full moon has me reflecting on how powerful it feels to gather — in our treehouse classroom, school libraries, and cozy yoga studios — to talk about the things that truly matter. Last week, I had the honor of leading “Media Mindset: Parenting in the Digital Age” in Argonne Elementary's cozy library. There is something so reassuring about a room full of parents leaning in, asking thoughtful questions, and realizing we’re not alone in navigating this digital world. If...
