Big Body Changes, Shared Conversations

Girl Power Science News

As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how much this community continues to grow, not just in numbers, but across generations. December is always a full season, wrapping up programs, finishing report cards, and beginning to plan for summer. Even amid the busyness, I’ve been so grateful for the conversations I’ve had with families this month.

One thing that keeps coming up, again and again, is how many of us are navigating big body changes at the same time as our kids.

Earlier this month, I shared a blog post with book recommendations I often reference in parent education workshops, titles that support body literacy, media awareness, and thoughtful conversations with tweens. If you’re looking for something grounding to read now or bookmark for later, you can find it here:

As we head into a season when many people are thinking about health, self-care, and fresh starts, I’m preparing to launch a new perimenopause education workshop.

This science-based session is designed for adults experiencing perimenopause and will explore what’s happening in the body, how hormonal shifts can affect daily life, and practical, compassionate ways to feel more supported and informed.
All genders are welcome.
More details and dates will be coming soon in the new year.

Looking ahead to summer, I’ll be opening early registration for a limited number of Girl Power Science summer camp spots on Saturday, January 17 at 8:00 am.

Fun themes—include "You Grow Girl!", "Glow Up!", and "STEMinista". Learn more here.

From puberty to perimenopause, these conversations matter, and they’re deeply connected. I’m grateful to be walking this journey alongside you and your daughters.

If this newsletter resonates, please consider forwarding it to a friend who might benefit from these resources. Sharing is one of the most powerful ways we grow this community.

With gratitude,
Konika

Happy New Moon, My inbox has been full this week with so many amazing moms asking for workshops before everyone heads off on summer adventures. I hear you. This time of year is a big transition for our daughters (and for us), and it’s worth supporting them with the tools they need before everything shifts. I’m offering the four topics moms are requesting the most and a bundle deal (save $50) when you register for both kids workshops. Feel free to email me at here if you have any questions. Go...

Happy Pink Full Moon, Our popular Girl & Grown-Up "Period Power" workshop is back on April 25th as well as our virtual "Pause Power" workshop on April 22nd. There’s something I keep noticing lately, in my students, in my daughter, and honestly… in myself too. Sleep deprivation. Our body literacy classes always begin with a check-in and a chance for students to draw a picture of their "inner weather report" in their journal. One of my students said they noticed a pattern. "I am always tired!"...

Happy Spring Equinox! My daughter turned 15 yesterday. And surprisingly…the hardest part wasn’t the cake, the guest list, or even the emotions. It was her wishlist. Think: itsy bitsy teeny weeny crop tops and micro skirts. The kind of clothes that make you pause as a parent—not because they’re “wrong,” but because they raise bigger questions. Just last week, after my talk at Burkes School (“Girl Power: Building Body Resilience”), a mom asked me: “How do you balance letting girls wear what they...
